Effective  Dec 1st, 2011, as part of the Family Reunification Plan, Canadian Immigration and Citizenship had made it eligible for Parents and Grandparents to apply for multiple entry visa known as SUPERVISA valid for up to 10 years, which will allow family members to remain in Canada for up to 24 months at a time.On average, the processing time for the Super Visa will be within 8 weeks and families will no longer have to wait numerous years to be reunited in Canada.

Requirements for Supervisa:

 

The applicant can get detailed information by visiting http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/supervisa.asp, or consult an immigration consultant.
Some mandatory documents are :

1) Evidence of the parent or grandparent relationship to the Canadian citizen or permanent resident you wish to visit (e.g., birth certificate, baptismal certificate or other official document naming you as parent);

3)    Proof from your child or grandchild that he or she meets the Low Income Cut-Off (LICO); and

4)    Proof that you have private medical insurance from a Canadian insurance company .

Points to consider when buying a  Supervisa Medical Coverage:

  • Confirm policy is for $ 100000 for 365 days

  • The policy should cover 3 main expenses as per Super Visa requirements( Health Care, Hospital and Repatriation)

  • Flexibility in terms of extending dates, refunds in case of cancellations and early departures is a must.

  • Claims process should be quick and efficient
